As host of the Montreal lifestyle section, I would lose any credibility if I passed up the opportunity to invite you to join me this weekend for Design Montréal Open House.

For those unfamiliar with DMOH, this is your chance to attend 100 free design-related activities, all over the city. The purpose of this shindig is to get Montrealers to [re]discover local designs and designers, to show support to the industry, and to justify Montreal’s status as a UNESCO City of Design.

Breaking Fashion’s Cardinal Rules

There are certain fashion rules that are just made to be broken. Not wearing white after labour day is one of them. With the world, climate and living arrangements evolving as rapidly as they have been over the past few decades, there is no rationale behind such absurdity anymore. Yet, if you’re like me, you still obey most of the rules blindly, preferring to hide your frustration to risking a gigantic fashion faux pas. Melanie Clark Hosts the Lifestyle Section

As she signs off another article, her portfolio tells the tale of a woman who lives and breathes cosmopolitan flair.

Born in a small suburban town, Melanie moved to the city straight out of high school. At the age of 15, she was already working her journalistic skills trying to get obscure, unsigned artists promoted onto the Montreal scene. While her interest lied more within the music industry at that time, she quickly learnt that fashion was an integral part of everything.
